Kalisz

Kalisz (lat. Calisia)
one of the oldest cities in Poland is located over Prosna, the capital of diocese, in 1975-1998 the capital of province. Kalisz is the second town in Wielkpolska.

Kalisz is the main industrial centre, it is very important for: engine industry (Pratt&Whitney, WSK PZL-Kalisz) lace and curtains (Wistil, Haft) food products (Winiary, Kaliszanka and Hellena), textile industry (Runotex, Polo), clothing trade (Big Star)

The second in district cultural centre (philharmonics, theatres, museums, galleries and festivals)

Stanislaw Wojciechowski – the second President of Poland was born in Kalisz
