Marek Stankiewicz was born in 1972. He
grew up in Zakopane where he completed the A. Kenar State High School of
Fine Art. In 1998 he got this masters degree at the Cracow Academy of Fine
Art, after completing a five year sculpture course at professor Sękowski's
studio. His creativity is deeply rooted in the tradition of primitive
and folk art which strong influences are still present in the Zakopane
School of Fine Art. He expressed such tendencies in his 1997 solo
exhibition "One hundred faces" where he tried to find the language of the
human face.
